pre-TWEEN

According to the Urban Dictionary a tween is a girl ages about 9-14…too old for toys, but too young for boys.
Very easy to market to, will usually follow any fashion trend set for them, will most likely go through the phase of ‘finding themselves’ as they ‘grow up’.

1. Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen’s main fanbase are all tweens.

2. tween 1: LyK oMg, I aM  jUst gOiNg ThRu TeH hArDeStt tIME Of My LyF…i RaN oUt Of EyEsHaDoW!!!!
tween 2: OMG!!!! DO YOU NEED ME TO COME OVER FOR SUPPORT?!?!?!?!?!

I have a pre-TWEEN.  She is 7.  I took this picture this morning.  You decide for yourself.

She has earrings on…danglies for the first time.  She has on an oversized white shirt with an elastic wrapped around the side.  She has her sunglasses on her head…more for fashion and less for use.  Her hair is in two low pig tails which she did herself.  She has on silver eye shadow and pink gloss on her lips.  Yet as I look at her I see a baby still.  She is eating grapes out of the bag.  She is still in a  high back booster car seat safely buckled in the back seat.  .  Her mermaid leggings hang on her and she is jamming out to our kids praise and worship CD.  She is not big enough for real dress flats so we have a kid pair with an elastic across the top to keep them from falling off when she runs.  Pre-TWEEN!  Am I ready for the tween years?  Or even the Teen years?  NO!  Don’t be in a hurry to grow up baby girl!  Take your time!

Is pre-TWEEN even a thing?  I think so!

Your daughter is adorable! I love the marketing part about the description. It seems like that’s what businesses are concerned with these days – demographics!

  7. It is so hard when are babies grow up! We see them so little, but the world doesn’t. I wish we could keep them small forever and protect them! I have two 11 year olds and our daughter looks way older than our son! #WanderingWednesday

  8. It definitely looks like she’s going to be in to her fashion. I think most girls go through a stage of doing all sorts with their hair and make-up. She looks so grown up in the pic #familyfun

  17. Yes I think that the pre-tween is definitely a thing, my niece is at the very same stage, and looking my older than she actually is. It’s scary how quickly our children grow up! Thanks so much for linking up at #fortheloveofBLOG. Claire x

  18. I have a pre-tween myself (although at 9 years of age, she qualifies for the tween age group now), and this is definitely a thing. Good thing she has 3 brothers to counteract her prima donna tendencies. And she loves nothing more than a good outdoor adventure, when she forgets all about make-up and growing up.
