SMART goals…

Well, here we are. A new year. Fresh and clean laid out before us. Now is the time to make those goals. As a blogger, I have a lot of goals that are blog related. For example, I want to try and push the number of followers I have on my social media platforms (I won’t tell you how many I want, but it is achievable). But I know that there are a few things that I need to look at first in order to achieve this. I mainly want to increase my followers on Instagram.  Everyone has goals though and everyone has a different goal, but even if the goal is different we can all achieve it in the same way. Your goals should be SMART! What is SMART? SMART is a way to make goals and stick to them.

S-Specific: As you make your goals be as specific as possible. Think who, what, when, where, how and why? It seems we all start the new year with “getting healthy” as a goal. This is a great goal but it is not specific. Specific would be getting healthy by going to the gym twice a week for the first 3 months then 3 times a week for the next 3 months. That is specific.
M-Measurable: Can your goal be measured? Is it through time? Amount? If it is a longer goal try setting milestones to achieve along the way.
A-Achievable: I want to be a supermodel and work on the beaches of Tahiti. NOT realistic! NOT achievable. I want to lose 100 pounds by my sister’s wedding in June. Again NOT realistic and NOT achievable. Setting a goal that is unattainable will only frustrate you and make you quit before even getting started.
R-Relevant: Goals should be important to you. Meaningful to YOU! Set a goal that you can invest yourself into! You will have greater success if a goal is one that you set and feel good about working towards.
T-Time-bound: Set your goals for a realistic time frame. If you extend it out too far the goal will become unimportant with the idea that you will have lots of time to accomplish your goal. You can set out year-long goals but as mentioned before setting milestones to hit along the way as to not stunt your progress.

Your goals for yourself should be written out. Share them with someone to keep you accountable and to check in from time to time. When a goal is reached be sure to celebrate! Treat yourself. Reward yourself. Work hard and reach those SMART goals!

  1. Specific, measurable, achievable AND time-bound. If I get three out of the four I will be happy. Good advice!

Best of luck to you! Start with monthly goals if that helps. Report back!

Yeah , that is not the way it works , you have to set up your goals so high that you know isn’t achievable , so you don’t even have tr try to achieve them. If you put your goals more realistically, you will have to work to achieve them , we don’t want to have that happen 🙂
