Summer is here.
SWAMPY! Swampy is the word for the week. It has been in the ’90s with a real feel of over 100 degrees. It is humid. My curly hair is crazy. The dog just lays on the bathroom tile painting. SWAMPY! You walk outside and you are hit with a WALL of heat. The kind of heat that makes your body produce sweat at an alarming rate.
Now please don’t think I am a wimp. I am not. I am used to summer heat. Hot days. Cool nights. I spent many a summer day lifeguarding at the camp in the blistering sun. However, this temp for an extended time is not usual for us here. To be fair it came on pretty fast!
But alas, I am my grandmother’s granddaughter! My grandmother was a die-hard New Englander. She did not have a single AC unit in her house growing up, yet it was always cool and pleasant. I have taken some of her tricks and have used them this week. Every single window in my home is shut! The drapes are pulled blocking out any sort of sun.
I was away all day yesterday guarding at a pool up north. I shut up the house when I left but turned all the AC units off. The house was about 90 degrees. SWAMPY 90 degrees. HOT. Too hot! AC units back on and will stay on!
With all that said Little Girl and I are going to spend the day in our pool. That is the best way to stay cool and avoid being SWAMPY!
How are you all doing this summer?
