Hidden Chili…

It is time for fall.  Time for warm comfy foods.  Here is a recipe for Hidden Chili.  What is hidden chili?  It is a pot full of goodness with loads of healthy things inside!

Hidden Chili

What you will need

1 large zucchini-finely diced

2 onions-chopped

2 tablespoons of crushed garlic

1 green or red pepper-chopped

1/2 head of broccoli-finely diced

2 cups broth (beef or chicken)

1 large can of tomato sauce

2 pounds of ground meat (I used turkey)

1 packet of your favorite chili powder

butter

Optional

cheese

sour cream

To start

In a large skillet combine chopped onions and peppers and 2 tablespoons of butter and garlic and cook for five minutes.  Add finely diced zucchini and 1 tablespoon butter.  Continue to cook down where onions are almost translucent.

Meanwhile, in a large stock pot warm up the broth and add finely diced broccoli.  Bring to a boil and add the tomato sauce and the chili powder.  Turn to low.

Add the skillet with the onions, peppers, and zucchini.   Pour the whole thing in…even the butter sauce that may be left.  In same skillet cook ground turkey completely and add to the stockpot.

Cook on low for 20 minutes, stirring often.

To get the finely diced zucchini and broccoli I use this tool from Amazon.  It works great when you need finely diced food.  With this product, I am able to add veggies to food I am already making and no one notices!

I love the fact that you’re hiding vegetables in there all ground up. And as I also use turkey mince over beef, I’m keen to try this. Thank you!

  6. I think I have had chilli once before in my life. I am very sensitive to the hot spicy feeling but the funny thing is that I do like the taste of chilli especially if you make it sweet chilli but it has to be super mild otherwise it will be super strong for me. I have realised that with the years I am actually getting better with my taste. I remember when I was a child I couldn’t even bear chilli next to me and now I can give it a go more. This dish sounds very nutritious and it is fantastic that it has hidden veggies in there. 🙂 x #kcacols

  7. My kids area hardwired wrong because they love their chilli 😉 They also eat veg without much hassle. I’ve raised three freaks :d #KCACOLS
