Life Unfiltered

If you have been tracking with me you know a few things.  One…I love the beach and all things water.  Two…my husband and I adopted our daughter out of foster care.  Three…she has some health issues.   Friday began one of those days.  About noon she came to me not feeling well.  It was clear she had to see her doctor.  The doctor gave us a script and told me if she starts to throw up to take her to the ER.  Sure enough…about 8 she starts throwing up.  Off to the ER we go.  I walk into a nut show!  The place was packed!  The wait was about 3 hours just to be seen therefore I had no choice so we wait.  We wait.  WE WAIT!

Side note….if you are well enough to order Chinese food and have it delivered to the waiting room you are probably well enough to stick it out till morning.  Also, side note…if you are pregnant and keep going outside to smoke you need a different kind of help!    Seriously both of these happened.

Germy, sick strangers fill the waiting room.  This was the last place I wanted to be and expose my already not-feeling-so-well kid to!  At 11:15 the nurse took us to a room.   The nurse did his job but it is a long time before we get seen.  Even after the care, it was a long time to get answers.  We are released to go home at 3:30.  The rest of her treatment could happen at home.  I was exhausted therefore a very tired momma crawled into bed thankful to have a husband to the reigns from here so I could tap out a bit.

Parenting is HARD!

Parenting is hard.  The middle of the night wake ups.  The take your kid sick kid home from school routine.  The screaming fits to get what she wants.  But on the other side, the rewards are so great when you see your kid is turning out to be a spunky, fun, intelligent human!

Hang in there, moms and dads!   It is a bumpy ride.

You are so right, there are so many ups and downs and all in betweens, but it is so worth all of them.

One of the more unpleasant sides of parenthood , sick child . What can a parent do , feel so helpless . Just running in your mind is he gonna be OK , why that didn’t happen to me instead of a child , is doc qualified …

  5. Hope she is better and enjoy the dcotor’s office, you will be spending a lot of time there. #ablogginggoodtime.

Parenting is hard!!! I am on other end of it. I have 2 kids in college. Parenting is the toughest journey you will ever take, but the most rewarding!! My husband and I have given as much to our kids as possible, having said that we have made them work for many things as well. The thing to remember is that laughter and memories are one of the greatest gifts you can give your kids and it is free!! WIN…. To this day my kids (when home) hug us and say good night and when the dog allows it will climb into bed with us and watch tv. From 1 parent to another spend the time with them even when you are tired and can’t function. It is worth it!!! You have got this!!!

  10. Oh no, what a horrible experience! Hope she’s getting better now and that you’ve recovered from ER. #ItsOK

  11. Oh gosh, sounds like a tough night. Nothing worse than a night in hospital with a little one. I hope she’s feeling better now. #ItsOK xx

  12. I hope she’s feeling better now x I don’t think you’ve experienced parenting until you’ve spent 3 hours in A&E. I’ve done so many a time and there is always something to shock and surprise you. It does bother me that the waiting room is packed full of sick children sharing germs for so long. Fingers crossed you won’t have to go through that again any time soon x

  13. It’s so awful when they’re unwell isn’t it, and how frustrating to have to wait so long at the hospital. Hope she’s feeling better. x #LivingArrows

  14. It really is hard isn’t it? I hope she’s on the mend x

  15. Well said! Parenting is a heady mix of emotions – one minute you’re so in love with your child and the next you want to just jump off a cliff!!! It is a bumpy ride but THE most wonderful and rewarding ride too!
Hope your daughter is well soon.
Thanks for joining us on the #itsok linky

She bounced back pretty quick. It is all part of the journey!

  16. Hi Tracy, parenting is the hardest job and we never know how we’ve done until we can step back and assess our work. Glad you had the support from the husband, it makes things a little easier. And I do hope that the takeaway was shared with all who were waiting! That’s bonkers, but it may have been a case of order a takeaway or starve to death – not good in a hospital! I do hope your daughter is on the mend now.

Thank you for popping by and sharing with #keepingitreal.

    xx
