SEO for a dummy like me…

SEO? What?

According to Moz, the definition of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is a marketing discipline focused on growing visibility in organic (non-paid) search engine results. In simplest terms, SEO is the way your page is set up so search engines can validate and recommend it.

Why is this important?

Your site needs to be properly set up to help drive traffic there from organic (just your average Joe on his computer) searching for a specific topic. If they can’t find you they can’t visit you! So traffic is like food to a blog!

SEO for dummies like me!

Because I am self-taught I type as I write. So the flow sometimes sounds good in my head but then I get it on paper and it is a jumble. I began to chat with fellow bloggers and I realized there are plug-ins to help. So I immediately added the plugin Yoast SEO.

This is a game-changer!

The Yoast plugin is active feedback as I type so regardless of the topic of my post, I get live feedback. I am able to go back over my post and make the needed changes for the best SEO! This plugin makes it simple to make changes to make my post the best it can be to rank high when someone searches on a topic that may be somewhere on my blog. Below is an active screenshot of the feedback I received as I type this post.

What now?

So have installed the plugin and am going back to my old posts and making needed adjustments. However overwhelming it may seem I am taking it slow and steady. It will be worth it in the end.  Speaking of the end, as I come to the end of this post I am given a green light by my plugin that this post is good in regards to SEO and readability! Yay me!

  9. SEO is a dirty word to me in many ways but if we want to succeed and be read we have to consider it. I have Yoast and amazing how those green dots become so relevant to our lives as bloggers. Blogging has a certain madness to it really. However, well done for this post because it will inevitably help other bloggers too #TriumphantTales
