Summer Bucket List 2019

Small town parade…

Small Town Parade…

Just like a good country song! There is nothing like living in a New England small town on the Fourth of July. Small towns may be small but they make up for it in big ways. Just like this small town parade to celebrate the 4th of July!

Little Girl and I helped my mom and her church hand out water, lemonade, bubbles, ice pops, and popcorn to those walking in the parade as well as the many families that were lining the street to watch the festivities. It was a hot day and people were thankful for the refreshments! The kids loved the bubbles too!

My favorite part of the parade was the men of the VFW marching at the front of the parade. These wonderful older men who served our country lead the parade. With their crisp white shirts and dark pants proudly carrying the colors made me thankful for my freedom. They are the VFW Post NO 11490. Thank you for your service gentlemen! I could think of no one better to lead us in this celebration!

Following the VFW was the town band and then a slew of old fashioned cars. I think this was the kids favorite part because many of the cars threw out candy. It was fun to watch the kids scamper towards the clumps of candy!

The loudest part of the parade by far was the long line of first responders in fire trucks, ambulance, and off-road vehicles. Let’s face it, a parade is not a parade without the procession of emergency vehicles making noise!

Happy Fourth of July! Have a safe and wonderful rest of your summer!
