I was raised by a single mom. I remember there was a Thanksgiving where we would not have had anything except for the generosity of an anonymous church member. The church clerk gave my mom a check that would cover Thanksgiving and then leave a good deal to Christmas shop. It was a blessing that I continue to remember into my adult life. My mom was not irresponsible by any means. She raised 3 kids who are productive members of society. She did it working a full-time job and often taking on other jobs to fill the gaps. I can’t remember why that year was so hard but we were truly blessed by someone. With that said as we head into the new year, I have a challenge for all of you. Kind of a pass it forward. Buy a gift card. It could be to a local box store, grocery store, coffee shop. You name it. Buy it in an amount that you can manage. I know for some $5 is a lot of money and others $100 is no big deal. Then keep it with you. When you see someone you think could use a blessing give it to them. No strings attached. Give it in person or leave it anonymously. When you do give a shout out and hashtag #giftcardchallenge2019. Not to bring props to you (but well done you) but to bring awareness with the hope you will inspire others to give. This challenge could be for a complete stranger or someone you know. The choice is yours. I have my gift card already. I will keep it close by and give when I see a need. #giftcardchallenge2019!
Be a better human in 2019!
What a fabulous idea! Happy New Year #DreamTeam
Great idea !
Great idea , but at my place , small as it is , there aren’t that many stores with gift cards . If you want to donate in my place only one thing works , hard cash . To small town to have big stores with their own payment system
Fantastic idea !
What a great idea! #DreamTeam
Wow, I love, love, love this idea. Even it’s just someone that is having a bad day, it could make all the different. Great idea!
I love it! I’m a big fan of acts of kindness.
This is such a kind, generous idea. Like you, I was raised by a single mom. My mom struggled to get by, and she went without quite often. I love the idea of gifting someone with a blessing, no strings attached. It’s a great way to start the new year!
That is wonderful idea
