September Snow Day Blues
September’s here, the year’s just begun, But this teacher‘s feeling, well, not much fun. The first few weeks, a chaotic spree, Of lesson plans and endless energy.
A hundred snacks, a thousand sighs, Four hundred laces, a teacher’s cries. The kids are wild, the room’s a zoo, And all this teacher wants to do Is curl up warm, beneath the snow, And let the winter’s magic grow.
A snow day, please, a heavenly dream, To escape this chaos, this frantic scene. So let it snow, just for a day, And let this teacher simply play!
This year…
Is it just me or is this year harder than others? Perhaps I was spoiled by have 2 1/2 solid months off. Each fall teachers go back into the classroom with new classes and new schedules. Day by day, bit by bit it gets easier. Students learn new routines, make good friends and learn some things long the way. So to all my fellow teachers trying to get the new crew moving in the same direction…we got this! Keep tying those laces, keep giving reminders, keep shaping those minds. Remember teachers really do make all other professions.
