SEO? What?
According to Moz, the definition of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is a marketing discipline focused on growing visibility in organic (non-paid) search engine results. In simplest terms, SEO is the way your page is set up so search engines can validate and recommend it.
Why is this important?
Your site needs to be properly set up to help drive traffic there from organic (just your average Joe on his computer) searching for a specific topic. If they can’t find you they can’t visit you! So traffic is like food to a blog!
SEO for dummies like me!
Because I am self-taught I type as I write. So the flow sometimes sounds good in my head but then I get it on paper and it is a jumble. I began to chat with fellow bloggers and I realized there are plug-ins to help. So I immediately added the plugin Yoast SEO.
This is a game-changer!
The Yoast plugin is active feedback as I type so regardless of the topic of my post, I get live feedback. I am able to go back over my post and make the needed changes for the best SEO! This plugin makes it simple to make changes to make my post the best it can be to rank high when someone searches on a topic that may be somewhere on my blog. Below is an active screenshot of the feedback I received as I type this post.
What now?
So have installed the plugin and am going back to my old posts and making needed adjustments. However overwhelming it may seem I am taking it slow and steady. It will be worth it in the end. Speaking of the end, as I come to the end of this post I am given a green light by my plugin that this post is good in regards to SEO and readability! Yay me!
Great for you that it worked !
Good for you that it worked , personally , never had much faith in SEO , that scheme always sounded to me as a scam
Interesting, that gives you good experience and intrinsic know-how and insight into inner workings of SEO
It took me ages to sort out all my posts when I first got Yoast, but it gives you a great sense of achievement once you’ve got there. I really like Yoast and was pleasantly surprised by how simple it is to use. #MixItUp
Yes, I love Yoast, it does make things simpler. And as you go along you start to learn from it too. I can write now and know that it will be approved with those green ticks without editing. x

I live for the green dot!!
Hi Tracy! I have never heard of this plugin but definitely need to start paying more attention to SEO. I’m going to check this out!
It is a good plugin. You may find one you like better but do keep an eye on SEO. It will help in the long run. Good luck!
You make it all sound so easy! SEO really needs to be the next part of blogging that I tackle. I never thought about going back to edit previous posts – how stupid can I be? – but what a great idea!
Trust me when I say I am new to this as well! Stay tuned….I have some buzz words I am sorting out.
I’ve recently started using Yoast and found it very useful!
SEO is a dirty word to me in many ways but if we want to succeed and be read we have to consider it. I have Yoast and amazing how those green dots become so relevant to our lives as bloggers. Blogging has a certain madness to it really. However, well done for this post because it will inevitably help other bloggers too #TriumphantTales
I am still learning as I go! Still have lots to learn. Figured a nice guy helped me I want to help others.
Hi,
Nice to meet you. I met you at the Dream Team Linky Party.
I love the Yoast SEO plugin and use it also to make sure my post is optimized for search engines.
Janice
This looks interesting…
Will have a look at this plugin!! I’m a new (well new again) blogger so have only a handful of posts – won’t take too long to make sure they are up to SEO Standards!
I also use Yoast SEO and it has helped me gather more traffic. #DreamTeam
Thanks for the great tips! Ill definaately try this! #triumphanttales
Good luck!
Yoast definitely is the SEO plugin saviour! Thank you for sharing this with us at #TriumphantTales. I hope to see you back next week.
I too was lost on SEO when I started blogging. Then Hubster bought me the SEO for Dummies book as a gift and I started to get it, piece by piece. This was before I knew about plugins. Plugins are definitely easier and the live feedback is great! #DreamTeam
